Since the moment the Texas Tech basketball team’s season came to an end in the national title game, the focus of Red Raider fans has been on securing a future with Chris Beard at the helm of the program. Monday, the news that most had been expecting broke when details of Beard’s new 6-year contract extension became public.
Signed through the 2024-25 season, Beard will make an average of $4.5 million per season. That makes him the third-highest paid college basketball coach in the NCAA behind Kentucky’s John Calipari and Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski.
This is the second year in-a-row that Beard and Texas Tech have agreed on a 6-year extension.
