As Texas Tech basketball head coach Chris Beard prepares for the upcoming 2018-19 season, he is keeping an eye on the future by putting together the next great Red Raider recruiting class. Wednesday, that class got a huge boost when 7-foot center Russell Tchewa verbally committed.
A native of Cameroon, the big man will play at Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut this year. He will be the third Putnam product to play for the Red Raiders joining sophomore Malik Ondigo and freshman Josh Mballa.
Playing in the Euroleague, Tchewa turned heads by scoring 13.5 points and pulling down 5.
