Buddy Hield may be the Sooner’s most well-known player this year, and while the future NBA talent did pour in 30 points, it was the Sooner’s inside defense that seemed to give Texas Tech the most trouble.
Texas Tech’s starting offense struggled mightily as Oklahoma held the good guys to 32% shooting on the night. Furthermore, the void left by Norense Odiase’s injury seemed to be even more glaring as Texas Tech lacked any definitive presence in the paint; Oklahoma recorded a school-record 14 blocks and ultimately forced the Red Raiders into being one-dimensional on offense.
If there was a bright spot for Texas Tech on offense it came in Justin Gray’s 20 points off the bench.
