On the eve of the Texas Tech basketball team’s first game in this year’s NCAA Tournament, Red Raider fans got some good news concerning next year’s team. That is because sophomore guard Davide Moretti, a third-team All-Big 12 selection this year, confirmed that he will return to Lubbock next season rather than play professionally in Europe.
Speaking to Davide Chinellato, editor for La Gazzetta dello Sport an Italian sports publication, Moretti said that he is “pretty sure” that he will return for “at least another year”. That certainly is reassuring for Texas Tech fans who are bracing for the loss of five key players from this year’s team including seniors Matt Mooney, Tariq Owens, Norense Odiase and Brandone Francis as well as sophomore and leading scorer Jarrett Culver, who is expected to be a top-10 draft pick this summer.
