Texas Tech couldn’t complete a ninth inning rally and fell 5-3 to Kansas State on Friday at Tointon Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas.
With runners on first and second and one out, Tyler Neslony flied out and Eric Gutierrez grounded into a fielder’s choice as the Wildcats held off the Red Raiders (24-14, 7-6 Big 12).
Kansas State (18-18, 5-8) had rallied for four runs in the fifth inning against Tech sophomore Ryan Moseley.
Moseley had one of his shortest outings of the season, only lasting five innings. The right-hander gave up four runs on only two hits.
