No, that distinction belongs to Pete Cawthon, whose big winning ways didn’t save him either.
When Cawthon resigned in January 1941, he was 42 years old and had gone 32-11-2 in the previous four seasons. His .693 winning percentage (based on a record of 76-32-6) remains a program record.
