Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt dishes on all things Red Raiders, including his philosophy on giving coaches contract extensions

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - It’s been a busy five months for Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt.

He fired football coach Kliff Kingsbury and hired Matt Wells from Utah State.

Hocutt also cheered on Tech’s journey to the NCAA basketball championship game in Minneapolis and recently signed coach Chris Beard to a six-year contract worth $27.45 million.

Hocutt set down this past week for an interview during Big 12 meetings in Arizona.

Q: Now that you have time to reflect, what did the Final Four appearance mean for Texas Tech?

Hocutt: All the feedback has been just tremendously positive.
