TULSA – For the second time this season, Texas Tech couldn’t solve Parker French.
The Texas left-hander threw a complete game and struck out six as the Longhorns defeated the Red Raiders 2-1 In the opening round of the Big 12 Championship Wednesday at Oneok Field.
Zach Davis had a one-out double in the first inning. But, the Red Raiders (30-23) couldn’t muster much offense after the center fielder’s hit as French settled in.
The Texas (27-25) left-hander, who shut down Tech in Austin earlier this season in a 3-0 win, retired nine straight after Davis’ hit and got Eric Gutierrez to ground into a double play in the fourth inning after Stephen Smith had singled and Tyler Neslony had walked.
