Texas Tech is considering a ceremonial groundbreaking for its $48 million Sports Performance Center around the time of the April 16 football spring game at Jones AT&T Stadium, athletic director Kirby Hocutt said Tuesday.
Fundraising for the indoor facility has topped $46 million, about $2 million having come in since Tech made a major announcement and celebration on Nov. 13 attended by dozens of donors and athletic department employees. The Sports Performance Center will serve as a practice site for the football team and a training and competition venue for track and field teams.
“We’re looking to break ground officially around our spring football game,” Hocutt said.
