Eric Morris’ prediction on Texas Tech’s receiving leader this season might surprise people: It’s someone who played receiver for the first time last year and caught 15 passes.
“My guess was Jonathan Giles the other day to coach Kingsbury,” Morris said.
Giles, a high school quarterback at Fort Bend Elkins, took a crash course at inside receiver last year as a true freshman, finishing with 15 catches for 143 yards and three touchdowns. Coaches think he has worlds of potential, though, because he’s first string ahead of junior Ian Sadler at “Y” inside receiver.
Morris said predicting Tech’s top receiver is difficult, unlike last year when Jakeem Grant caught 90 passes and no one else had even half that many.
