The Red Raider baseball team played New Mexico to a close nine innings, but couldn't get its offense going late to finish out its series opener.
No. 23 Texas Tech fell to the Aggies 7-6 at Rip Griffin Park Tuesday.
Tech (6-3) will continue its series with New Mexico State (6-2) at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rip Griffin Park.
The Aggies got off to an early lead after racking up two outs in the first inning.
New Mexico’s Trey Stine connected for a double to get in position to score, and Dan Hetzel drove him in on a single through center field, 1-0.
