Kliff Kingsbury isn’t “Coach Bro” anymore.
He isn’t even “Kliff.”
Those monikers — much like that asinine “our coach is hotter than your coach” — had to go.
So, Kingsbury fired his friends.
Texas Tech assistant coaches Smith and Kevin Curtis, both former Coronado and Red Raiders players who were part of Kingsbury’s inaugural staff in 2013, aren’t being retained next year by Kingsbury and defensive coordinator David Gibbs.
They, too, had to go.
And it wasn’t the least bit unexpected — at least to those paying attention.
The Red Raiders weren’t good enough.
