Spike Dykes, former Texas Tech football coach, dies at 79

Spike Dykes, the former Texas Tech head football coach who retired as the program's leader in wins, died early Monday of a heart attack, Don Williams of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported.

Dykes was 79.

A legend in every sense.

Dykes joined Texas Tech's staff as an assistant coach in 1984, which was led by Jerry Moore.
