TULSA, Okla. -- It was only halftime of Texas Tech's first game in the NCAA West Region and senior Tariq Owens was already issuing apologies to teammates.

Even though Tech held a four-point lead on Northern Kentucky en route to an eventual 72-57 win , the 6-10 Owens felt he hadn't done his job.
"Me being a leader, I felt like I made too many mistakes in the first half," said Owens, a grad transfer from St. John's. "You know, first time in the tournament, I have high expectations for myself. I know the coaching staff does too.
