Texas Tech (6-1) took control early, rattling off a 13-2 run highlighted by a Shadell Millinghaus 3-pointer. Incarnate Word battled back, pulling within 19-11, but again Tech rolled off a run, outscoring the Cardinals 19-3. Zach Smith did what he always did, put home a rim-rattling dunk during the run that put the Red Raiders up by 18.
Texas Tech led by as much as 24, but Incarnate Word made a late rally in the first half as Shawn Johnson and Jalin Hart hit 3-pointers, pulling the Cardinals (2-3) within, 38-25 at halftime.
