KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Former Brownfield, South Plains College and Texas Tech star Sheryl Swoopes headlines the 12 finalists for the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
The list was announced Monday. The six-member class of 2017 will be revealed Feb. 12 and enshrined on June 10.
Swoopes was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame last fall. She led Texas Tech an NCAA championship in 1993, winning the WBCA Wade Trophy and Naismith Player of the Year. She was a member of four WNBA championship teams with the Houston Comets. Swoopes also won three Olympic gold medals for the U.
