Texas Tech track and field stars Gil Roberts and Michael Mathieu both took home some hardware during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. Roberts won a gold medal and Mathieu won a bronze medal in the 4x400-meter relay.
Roberts ran third in the mile to help USA secure the gold with a final time 2:57.30. Mathieu ran second for the Bahamas during the relay helping them secure the bronze medal with a final time of 2:58.49. For Roberts, he earned his first Olympic medal while Mathieu earned his third consecutive one. He won a silver medal in 2008 and a gold one in 2012 as a member of the Bahamas' relay team.
