The theft charge that led to Texas Tech running back Da'Leon Ward's arrest on Tuesday has been dismissed, according to a report from the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
Lubbock County District Attorney Matt Powell dismissed the charge, saying "There was not sufficient evidence in my opinion that a Lubbock County jury could find him guilty of this crime beyond a reasonable doubt.
"I'm sorry the young man got arrested," Powell said to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. "He should have never been arrested, the case should have never been filed."
According to online records, Ward was booked at the Lubbock County Sheriff's office at 2:35 p.
