Texas athletic director Steve Patterson has developed a reputation for being concerned with the bottom line above all else. This summer, Scout’s Chip Brown wrote a scathing column about Patterson’s practices, which includes things like coaches having to pay to eat at the dining hall, and low salaries for quality control coaches. A new report, which states that Texas will charge Texas Tech’s band for seats at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for the Nov. 26 match-up between the Longhorns and Red Raiders, falls in line with what we’ve heard about Texas’ recent frugal philosophy.
