Report: Texas Tech defensive architect Mark Adams to interview with Chicago Bulls

Texas Tech could be facing a significant loss from its men's basketball coaching staff.

WatchStadium reported Wednesday night that assistant coach Mark Adams, Tech's unofficial "defensive coordinator," is expected to meet with Chicago Bulls coach Jim Boylen on Thursday. Adams had emerged as a candidate to join Boylen's staff, WatchStadium reported.

Adams' swarming scheme was a key component as Tech emerged as a dominant defensive team the past two seasons. The Red Raider were ranked No. 1 in adjusted defense by KenPom this season, when they reached the NCAA championship game, losing to Virginia.

A former head coach at Clarendon College, Wayland Baptist, West Texas A&M and Pan American, Adams led Howard College to the junior college national title.
