Hayden Howard did not allow a hit as Texas Tech defeated San Diego State 3-1.
Howard struck out four through three innings Friday afternoon in the series opener at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
Howard took over for freshman Davis Martin who gave up one run off nine hits through six innings of work.
That performance earned Martin his fifth win of the season.
While Texas Tech coach Tim Tadlock has lauded his players for their ability to separate balls and strikes at the plate, the Red Raiders have also made the right decision multiple times throughout the season in the field.
