Midway through the first half, Sam Houston State’s Jamal Williams attacked the basket and went up for a shot under the basket.
But Norense Odiase went up and blocked Williams’ shot with authority. It was that kind of night defensively for Texas Tech as the Red Raiders went on to defeat Sam Houston State 71-56 Wednesday night in United Supermarkets Arena.
The Bearkats went 0 for 7 from the floor through the first 4:51 of the game before Torry Butler sank a 3-pointer. Overall, the Red Raiders held Sam Houston State to 27 percent shooting from the floor and 24 percent from the perimeter.
