It didn’t take long for first-round pick Josh Jung to make an impression on the Rangers.
After just four games of thrashing Arizona Rookie League pitching, Jung was on Monday promoted to Class A Hickory. He is bypassing, at least for now, the more advanced rookie level Northwest League.
Jung, the co-Big 12 Player of the Year at Texas Tech this season, had 10 hits, including a homer in his first professional at-bat in 17 at-bats with the AZL Rangers.
Hickory, in the South Atlantic League, should offer him more of a challenge. The majority of players in the AZL are just out of high school or in their first seasons in the U.
