OMAHA — During the Opening Ceremony on Friday, Tyler Floyd received the Elite 90 award for having the highest individual GPA among College World Series participants.
Floyd, the Big 12’s scholar-athlete of the year, has never made a B.
He knows the play that needs to be made and makes it.
The senior was a force defensively for Texas Tech on Sunday afternoon as the catcher recorded three big outs for the Red Raiders.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the second inning, Floyd fielded a slow chopper right down the left field line and fired to Eric Gutierrez at first to get the final out of the frame and keep the Horned Frogs off the board.
