New RB coach DeShaun Foster needs to recruit California for Texas Tech

This week Texas Tech head football coach Kliff Kingsbury finally completed his assistant coaching staff with the hire of former NFL running back DeShaun Foster as the Red Raiders’ new running backs coach. But while his title may read coach, it is safe to say that Foster’s primary job will be as a recruiter.

Kingsbury has targeted a number of areas outside of Texas in which he wants to develop a recruiting presence such as Louisiana, Oklahoma and California. Foster is a former star running back at UCLA (1998-2001) ranking third on the school’s all-time rushing list and has spent time on staff at his alma mater as a graduate assistant coach and most recently as the director of player development and high school relations.
