Lubbock resident Mike Gustafson is scheduled to receive the American Baseball Coaches Association meritorious service award during the ABCA convention on Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee.
Gustafson, a former Monterey and Texas Tech baseball player, has served as president and CEO of the College Baseball Foundation since June 2009. The foundation founded the National College Baseball Hall of Fame and has worked to fund a museum in Lubbock.
Hall of Fame inductees are enshrined each summer in Lubbock at College Baseball’s Night of Champions event.
The meritorious service award is presented “to a person who has proven himself/herself in service to amateur baseball and the ABCA, and whose actions and involvement have resulted in a notable impact on the sport.
