A memorial service for former Texas Tech Athletic Hall of Fame member Carl Ince has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 29 at the Kent Hance Chapel on the Tech campus.
Ince, 83, died Oct. 7 in Marble Falls, where he had lived for several years. He had suffered a stroke this year and subsequently was diagnosed with cancer.
Ince played on Lubbock High’s state championship basketball team in 1951, then transferred to Tech after initially going to Rice and sitting out a year upon his return. He averaged 13.4 points per game in 1953-54, when Tech went 21-5 and made the NCAA tournament for the first time, and averaged 17.
