Texas Tech junior Patrick Mahomes II collected his seventh mention to a preseason watch list Tuesday as he was named a candidate for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.
The quarterback was one of 41 players nationally recognized on the watch list which was announced by the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce during its annual kickoff luncheon event.
This is the second-straight season where Mahomes, who hails from nearby Whitehouse, Texas, has been named to the watch list.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognized the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity.
