Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes II was an established name going into the 2016 football season. Red Raiders receiver Jonathan Giles was anything but.
The two turned into one of the most productive passer-receiver combos around.
Mahomes, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound junior from Whitehouse, and Giles, a 5-11, 185-pound sophomore from Fort Bend Elkins, on Tuesday were named to the second team of The Associated Press All-Big 12 team.
Mahomes is on pace to lead the FBS in total offense for the second year in a row, having ended the regular season with 5,312 yards. He had a hand in 53 touchdowns, 41 passing and 12 rushing.
