Lin Elliott earned a Super Bowl ring kicking for the Jimmy Johnson-era Dallas Cowboys. That made him familiar throughout the football world, but in his family, what happened Friday night might matter more.
Elliott, who made 17 field goals for Texas Tech’s All-American Bowl team of 1989, was inducted into the Tech Athletic Hall of Fame. The Waco resident told a Memorial Civic Center banquet crowd his mother came from a family of eight siblings, all of whom went to Tech. So did nine of their kids.
“When I came to Tech, it was more important than when I went to the Dallas Cowboys,” he said.
