Texas Tech split end Devin Lauderdale provided a lot of sizzle Saturday in the season opener, catching eight passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns in a 59-45 conquest of Sam Houston State. The catches and yards were career highs, and the touchdowns total matched a career high.
When fans weren’t watching Lauderdale, though, he was subpar, offensive coordinator Eric Morris said Monday.
“Really explosive, but then really disappointing on his overall effort every single time,” Morris said. “That’s the scary part, and that’s what we’ve told him: He can be as good as there is in the country.
