Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury will be inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame in May. The Texas Sports Hall of Fame announced the six-man class on Wednesday afternoon.
Kingsbury threw for 3,009 yards and 34 touchdowns during his senior season at New Braunfels High School. Kingsbury led New Braunfels to a 13-2 record that season, including an appearance in the Class 5A Division II state semifinals. The school finished 4-8 the year before. Kingsbury's high school coach was his father, Tim Kingsbury.
Kingsbury went onto play quarterback for Texas Tech 1999-2002.
In addition, former Aledo and Texas running back Johnathan Gray will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
