Kirby Hocutt's Texas Tech contract extension makes him one of the highest-paid athletic directors in the country

Texas Tech isn’t just rewarding its coaches to keep them in Lubbock.

Athletic director Kirby Hocutt received a two-year contract extension announced Monday that will make him one of the top 10 highest paid athletic directors in the country at $1.5 million annually. Hired in 2011, Hocutt will get a boost to $1.5 million with a 3% increase annually for the contract, which runs through Aug. 31, 2027.

According to data compiled jointly by USA Today and Athletic Director U and adjusting for other recent raises, Hocutt will be the second-highest paid AD in the Big 12, behind Texas’ Chris Del Conte.
