Keke Coutee has been heavily discussed this offseason, and for a number of reasons. The 5-foot-11, 180 pound junior was one of Patrick Mahomes’ favorite targets last season, where he racked up 55 catches, for 890 yards, and seven touchdowns.
When former Tech receiver Jonathan Giles’ numbers began to decrease last season, Keke Coutee stepped up in a big way. Following a 10-catch, 172 yard game against Oklahoma, Coutee’s numbers took a small dip, but following the TCU win, week after week, he began building a name for himself in the Big 12 receiving corps.
What’s more, in considering the overall tone for the 2017 Texas Tech Red Raiders football team, many have shifted their focus on whether Nic Shimonek will be as effective as Patrick Mahomes.
