TULSA, Okla. -- Jarrett Culver tore down a March Madness banner, tore up Texas Tech's NCAA record book and tore through the Northern Kentucky defense.
All in all, not a bad NCAA Tournament opener for the Tech sophomore or the Red Raiders, despite a slow start.
Third-seeded Tech eventually rolled to a 72-57 win Friday over Northern Kentucky in the West Regional opener at the BOK Center. The Red Raiders will face sixth-seeded Buffalo, which cruised past Arizona State 91-74, on Sunday.
Culver put his stamp on the tournament early, setting a Tech record for NCAA single-game scoring with 29 points (on 10-of-17 shooting) to go with eight rebounds and seven assists.
