AUSTIN – Texas Tech senior Jakeem Grant cradled a game ball he’d been presented as he answered questions after the Red Raiders’ 48-45 victory Thursday night at Texas.
It could have been a career achievement award, too.
The Tech senior broke Michael Crabtree’s school record for career receiving yards in the fourth quarter of the Red Raiders’ Thanksgiving night win at Royal-Memorial Stadium.
Grant reached 3,164 yards in four years, breaking the mark of 3,127 yards that Crabtree produced in two years before leaving early for the NFL.
“It definitely means a lot,” Grant said, “going up there to one of the greats that played here at Texas Tech and probably one of the greatest that played in college football, period.
