When Michigan punter Blake O’Neill was the target of ridicule and death threats earlier this season for a game-ending gaffe, Texas Tech defensive end Branden Jackson sent a tweet of support in his direction.
Little did Jackson know he’d face similar derision when he got an uncharacteristic and costly penalty two weeks ago in the late stages of a 31-26 loss at West Virginia.
In an age in which social media can turn to scornful media, especially as it pertains to high-profile athletes, Tech fans lashed out at Jackson, a normally affable, articulate face of the program.
