ARLINGTON - Both Kliff Kingsbury and Matt Rhule are battling ghosts, fair to say, in winning over Texas Tech and Baylor fans clinging to memories of better times not so distant.
But if Rhule must contend with an unprecedented standard set by Art Briles at Baylor, Kingsbury is wildly outnumbered in comparison.
Because he’s not only dealing with Mike Leach, he’s looking up at just about any coach in Tech history.
Meaning if this wasn’t his last game as a member of the club, it should have been.
Even before losing 35-24 Saturday before a pitifully small crowd of 27,308 at JerryWorld, the verdict on Kingsbury’s six seasons in Lubbock seemed fairly certain.
