From his first day as Texas Tech’s head coach three seasons ago, Chris Beard made it clear to his players what he expected from the basketball program.
“If we had a bad practice, he was like, ‘I’m going to win this you know what and it’s either with you or without you, but eventually I’m going to win it,” Tech senior forward Norense Odiase said.
Beard’s goal became reality on Saturday.
With a gut-check 80-73 win at Iowa State behind 31 points by Jarrett Culver in a charged atmosphere, Texas Tech (26-5, 14-4 Big 12) clinched a share of the conference regular-season title.
