Danny Amendola stood at the middle of a 40-yard artificial turf field.
Donning all black, D1 licensed attire — a ball cap turned backward, a T-shirt with gray undershirt and shorts with a pair of white receivers gloves hanging out — the New England Patriots wide receiver was caught in a brief state of awe as he looked around the D1 Sports Training facility.
“I worked out in a rusty garage when I grew up,” said Amendola, a D1 co-owner who grew up in The Woodlands, a suburb of Houston.
As a three-star recruit back at The Woodlands High School, he admitted his workouts — at times — revolved around finding any facility with weights.
