Though the Texas Tech Red Raiders signed four-star receiver J.F. Thomas, chances are he won’t be suiting up for the team in 2015.
Per a report from Daniel Pauling of 247 Sports, the Dallas native is likely headed to Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas, 72 miles southeast of Dallas.
A representative of Trinity Valley said that the odds of Thomas coming to the school were “more than a coin flip” and that the reasons for him heading there were academic. Per that source, Thomas needs to pass a certain portion of the Texas state standardized test, STAAR, and then get a high enough SAT score to bring his GPA to an acceptable level.
