From Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Zechariah McPhearson is continuing his athletic career as a graduate-transfer for Texas Tech. McPhearson was a four star recruit coming out of high school, committing to Penn State over other high-profile schools like Alabama and Ohio State. During his time with the Nittany Lions, McPhearson logged twenty-four games with 16 tackles, three pass deflections, and a fumble recovery after sitting his first year out as a redshirt.

Zech’s decision to transfer comes as no surprise as he operated mostly behind defensive backs John Reid, Tariq Castro-Fields, and Donovan Johnson throughout his time there.
