There are two reasons why special teams should be focused on this spring for Texas Tech:
1. Michael Barden was not performing well punting the ball.
2. Jakeem Grant's presence was desperately missed.
Barden ranked last in the Big 12 last season in punting, averaging about 38.3 yards per punt attempt. Although the Aussie-newcomer Dominic Panazzolo in as the second punter on the team, it is still undetermined who will be taking the job next season.
Jakeem Grant was electric all-around for the Red Raiders during his stint in Lubbock. Besides his explosive receiving ability, Grant was a threat on just about every kick/punt return.
