Despite a cool forecast with clouds and a slight drizzle, the Texas Tech football team was anything but dreary Saturday against winless Big 12 foe Kansas State at Jones AT&T Stadium.
The Red Raiders scored on their first four offensive possessions – aided by a pair of touchdowns by DeAndre Washington and Justin Stockton, who combined for 260 yards and four touchdowns in a 59-44 win and, more importantly, qualified Texas Tech for a bowl berth.
With the victory, Texas Tech (6-5 overall, 3-5 in the Big 12) snapped a three-game losing streak, won its first Senior Day since 2012 and became bowl eligible for the 23 rd time in past 25 seasons.
