After returning Texas Tech to the NCAA Tournament and becoming the second coach to lead five different programs to an tournament appearance, it's possible Tubby Smith is angling to become the only coach to lead six.
According to a report from USA Today's Dan Wolken, Memphis is targeting Smith as its next head coach to replace Josh Pastner. Pastner recently accepted a similar position with Georgia Tech.
Hearing Texas Tech’s Tubby Smith is indeed someone Memphis is strongly considering for its head coaching position.

The report was backed by a vote of confidence from CBS Sports college basketball columnist Gary Parrish, as well.
