PHOENIX - After a journey with so many coaching stops at so many obscure destinations, Chris Beard looks like he’s found his destination.
At the very least, Texas Tech is doing its best to keep Beard for as long as possible as its men’s basketball coach.
Less than a month after losing in overtime to Virginia in the NCAA title game, Tech announced a new six-year contract through the 2024-25 season for Beard that will average a whopping $4.575 million.
“It sends a very big message what our expectations are as an athletics program,” Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt said in an interview.
