AUSTIN -- The 18 Wheeler package remains the Texas’ short-yardage option of choice, even if a lot of people are bewildered.
Consider one of the questions Monday to coach Charlie Strong: Were Strong and offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert the only people at Texas Tech capable of stopping D’Onta Foreman, the nation’s leading rusher?
Ouch. Just imagine if Texas and Strong had somehow lost at Tech instead of securing a 45-37 win despite having Tyrone Swoopes stopped on two late-game short-yardage situations that could have sealed the victory. After rushing for 341 yards, Foreman watched from the sideline as Strong and Gilbert opted for the 18 Wheeler.
