IRVING - Add Bill Hancock to the people not surprised to hear that a conference title game and 13th data point can enhance the chances for the College Football Playoff.
Big 12 commissioned-research indicated that a championship game helps in reaching the CFP, conference commissioner Bob Bowlsby said last month.
Hancock, the CFP executive director, pointed to Ohio State's 59-0 win over Wisconsin in 2014 and Michigan State's victory over Iowa last season in the Big Ten championship game.
"We all know that to get another game against a quality opponent and winning the game is helpful and certainly was helpful to Ohio State and to Michigan State, too," Hancock said.
