Winning a national championship should be the goal for every college football team in the country. 31 schools (32 if you count UCF) have achieved this feat in the modern poll era which leaves just under 100 schools that have yet to taste the holy grail. When it comes to power five schools, the second loss virtually eliminates any chance you may have at making the college football playoff, and the majority of power five schools will suffer at least two losses halfway through the season. Which is why for most schools, the true realistic goal is the conference championship.
