Rule changes
Much has been made about the recent rule change from the 35-second shot clock to the 30-second clock in men’s college basketball.
For Kansas coach Bill Self, that doesn’t make much difference for him and his team.
The biggest change, in his opinion, is often overlooked.
The five-second closely guarded count on a dribble will no longer be called.
Whenever an offensive player had the ball and a defender was guarding him closely, he had five seconds until he had to pass the ball.
If he didn’t, the referee called five seconds and the ball was given to the other team.
